History[]
Backstory[]
Joanna's mother, Beverly, worked for the Bowers when Joanna was younger and that is how she became best friends with Vivian Bowers and later had a romantic relationship with Vivian's bother, Julian, in their teenage years.[1] Vivian seemed to be the only one that knew about Julian and Joanna's relationship, but one day Joanna's mother caught Joanna and Julian in bed together and not long after, they left the Bower's home.[2] In flashbacks, we see that Julian and Joanna seemed to be in a secret relationship when they were young and seemed to be in love. According to Julian, himself, Joanna was his first lover he lost his virginity with.[3]
Season One[]
Joanna and Julian had not seen each other until Joanna went to the Bowers home to pay her respects for Vivian death. Julian seemed very surprised to see Joanna after so long. Julian, who has no idea that Joanna is a cop, made the family believe that she had gotten out of an abusive marriage and that she was looking for a place to stay in New York. The head of the household Robert invited her to stay with them in their home. Julian thought the idea was great.[1]
As the story went on, Julian began to show more consideration towards Joanna. For instance, he had brought Joanna a new vehicle[2] and had taken her to the Bahamas for a special meeting[4]. Unfortunately, at one point, Joanna believed that Julian was the one who murdered Vivian. After looking at a photo of Vivian's corpse, she remembered a distinctive cut she had on her face and realized that it was exact imprints left from Julian's ring. This caused Joanna to dig deeper to finding out what happened that night. Despite her relationship with him, she secretly armed herself with a corkscrew in case she had to protect herself and presuming he would attack her.[3]
